Volunteers help teens 'turn the key' for the first time

Do you remember when you sat in a car for the very first time – key in ignition, ready to drive?

There's many reasons why a teen might struggle to get their driver's license, but this program run by volunteers is helping teenagers get in the car for the first time.

This report was broadcast on ABC Radio Brisbane.

Bikers build illegal tracks in Brisbane bush reserves

Children as young as 12-years-old are among those facing council crackdown for building dozens of dirt jumps and illegal bike trails in bushland reserves across southeast Brisbane.

The trail-building has disturbed wildlife, destroyed native plants and caused large-scale erosion in the bushland.

So why are bikers still riding in these areas?

And will a hard council crackdown solve the problem?

This report was broadcast on 4ZZZ 102.1FM in 2020.

Brisbane needed a new student-run radio show. We made it happen.

It's called TalkerSpace, and it's still a thing.

Max Mayer and I (the founders) wanted the show to continue past our own involvements.

But the clock was ticking.

I spent the next year building strategies, team models and systems that would keep the show stable and sustainable long into the future.

By the end of 2021, we were ready to pass the torch to the next generation of TalkerSpace announcers.

2022

We organised two outside broadcasts and worked with the new team to develop a new social media strategy.

I also ended up designing the TalkerSpace logo!

Overall, we kinda became known as a team who innovated and got stuff done.

But yeah, that's TalkerSpace!

It's a wild ride.
